Case Study: Celebrating Seniors
The Celebrating Seniors Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and serving older adults in Oak Park, River Forest, and Forest Park, Illinois. Each year, its efforts culminate with a weeklong series of events known as Celebrating Seniors Week. Entering its 10th year of existence, the Celebrating Seniors Coalition was seeking a dual injection of form and function for its website.
Relying on volunteers who were straining under the workload, the site had sputtered along for years with a series of Band-Aid approaches. Leaders wanted a fresh, vibrant visitor experience that also enabled donations, volunteer sign-ups, and other types of engagement.
At the same time, the organization wanted to improve it’s messaging around the more upbeat, adventurous aspects of getting older while defying the negative stereotypes associated with aging.
How Hutch Helped
Through our design objective development process, we established specific goals for the project that included a content outline, messaging, user experience, branding, and functionality.
In addition, as the coronavirus pandemic necessitated almost fully remote communications with Celebrating Seniors leadership, a robust working relationship spurred on cohesive, steady progress.
Hutchinson created a vibrant and user-friendly site with large typography that addressed one of the site’s longstanding shortcomings. This revamped site now has a more compelling account of its history, a simpler way to engage the public, and clear, focused calls to action.
1. Vibrant event images with large engaging text
2. Clear and direct core messaging
3. Easy to find call to action!
In an appealing fashion, the site invites visitors to explore how they can become involved while positioning the organization to enjoy a powerful online presence for years to come.
